Menya Musashi

Been busy these days editing and managing an online store. So far I have sold 3 items ever since I started it 3 weeks ago. Averaged out, an item per week. Good enough for a newbie like me. Hardly have the time to blog, so here are some back dated entries. Really long ago! Nonetheless, a food blogger wannabe like me has to try to keep up!

Met up with the cousin few months back and it was pretty enjoyable as I havent seen her for quite a while. Lunch was at Menya Musashi, a place well known for its free upsize of noodles up to 5x without any additional costs! I wanted to try that, but it is only for the porky ramen :(

I like the samurai warrior theme chosen for the layout of the interior. This place is highly raved for their white signature tonkatsu broth, which is said to be flavorsome as it's made from pork bones.

A cup of houji ($1) as an accompanying beverage. Drinking tea seems like a mandatory act in Japanese restaurants, or is that just my habit?

Chashu ramen set ($14.90) comes with a selection of set dishes and curry ika was our choice! This wasnt exactly the name of the set, but I forgot its name :( It comes with one slice of cha shu, a runny egg and a piece of seaweed. The ramen itself gave no surprises, but what was worth commending was the broth! This wasnt too salty as the one I had at Aoba Ramen years back, it wasnt too ordinary like the one from Ajisen Ramen, the taste was just nice. The broth was power ok! I am not a fan of pork and usually steer clear of it as much as I can, but if you can prepare it in such a way that rids it of its porky smell, then I wont mind eating it.
Curry ika, also known as curry squid is on the average side. Nothing memorable about this dish. The taste of curry wasnt too distinct, hence not much plus points for this one.

As cousin took this shot of me, some rowdy snobs from Hwa Chong Istitution, who were seated next to us mumbled this in disapproval "everything also want to take photo, just like that Xiaxue." Well this remark was certainly uncalled for and that pissed cousin off and she gave the fellow the deadly stare. Haha.. I was kind of offended but I wouldnt be bothered. Why let a few snobs affect our dining experience? We shouldnt argue with these kids la. We should feel flattered to be even compared with Xiaxue, the pioneer of blogosphere. No wonder the liner goes : those with high IQ has no EQ. So no pics of cousin because of this remark.

Cousin had the akiba curry ramen ($14.90), which is curry ramen with fried chicken pieces. This was just too salty! Go low on the salt, chef. Your kidney is crying. I might go back to this place just for the white based ramen, nothing else.
End off with this collage of us. Nice edits right? I gave cousin free blush and eyeshadow in this pic, while lip tint for myself :) Haha.. the wonders of photo editing.. In case you are wondering, I use an online photo editor called picmonkey!
