Birthday Celebration Part 1

Breadman specially took leave for me on my birthday, not just for me solely, but for himself too since he needed a break from work. Had a 5-in-1 birthday celebration this year so this photo log gonna be divided into two separate entries so that it wont be too hard for viewing. Why 5-in-1? I did five things on that day! Sweated out during a 45 min badminton session, had a fabulous lunch session at Bliss House restaurant, fulfilled my childhood dreams of playing with Lego blocks, literally "ate" a potted plant and finally ended the night by watching The Croods movie. Supposed to catch Helter Skelter and Confession of Murder but couldnt make it on time, I guess substituting one movie for two others worked well too! Decided to pack the day with activities so as to make up for last year's missed birthday celebration. Was lying in the hospital fighting my adverse drug allergy then, waiting for what seemed like days for the medical personnel to get me the counteractive drug to stop the nasty allergy. I am never ever going to land myself in the hospital again! *Touched many pieces of wood...
This is the place where we had lunch. Bliss House theme restaurant. Why Bliss House? Firstly, I really really have a thing for theme restaurants and this is the first time I am visiting one, the other one I heard of is Full House theme restaurant, shall check it out next time. Secondly, the word "bliss" used to be our frequently used word after the bliss yoghurt drink. And if we were still together, I would have excitedly squealed "Look! Finally there's a restaurant specially for us!" To all budding entrepreneurs, please invest in more theme restaurants to attract the younger crowd who wants to have a fun filled dining experience. Can I request for a Domokun theme one? Domokun cutlery, food shaped like domo.. AHH... Just too cute to resist. To me, when the ambience is good, food is secondary. Present me with pieces of dry cardboard and I will happily chew them for you while snapping pictures away!
My gift of the day! A bouquet of roses. Breadman didnt exactly present me the gift the way I expected him to. He did it in a very much socially awkward way, very Breadman-style. It was kind of strange for me to be standing outside of the florist when he collected the flowers. Feels like I am collecting the flowers myself. Hahaha...plain strange.

My first time receiving roses of these colour tones. Received blue and red ones in the past. A little complaint, I find the mesh wiring that surrounds the flowers not that aesthetically pleasing to the eye and it makes holding the flowers a little troublesome too. Just plain wrapping is sufficient. Other than that, these flowers make me happy! I am a flower lover, enough said.

A pot of Earl Grey Tea ($6) for the lady please.
I love how my arms do not look so grotesquely flabby in this photo.

Premium Strawberry Margarita ($16) for the strawberry addict. I can haf almost 3 pots of Earl Grey Tea with this amount of money! The rim of the glass is dusted with salt while the frozen ice was topped with pepper. It sounds strange to have a spicy and sweet drink. The only spiciness that I embrace is that from my beloved peppermint plant.
Ordered Button Mushrooms ($10) under the Tapas section. These came in a set of 6 button mushrooms, stuffed with ratatouille. The mushrooms were finger licking good! They were dipped in slightly sweet sauce, while the ratatouille had a hint of spiciness that was tolerable. Very playful for the senses. Each bite promises sheer goodness as the juices flow into your mouth when your teeth sinks into the mushrooms.

This photo does more justice to the mushrooms than the previous one. haha... Breadman's work. Used the same settings but delivered different results. Strange! Strongly recommend this dish because it is economical yet delectable. Even better than the main courses. Opps. :X
I had the Americana pasta ($22), which is spaghetti with prosciutto bits/ bacon in homemade tomato sauce with garlic, fresh basil, olives, onion and chili. I had it without chili though cuz of my stomach issues. If you are a bacon lover, this dish is definitely for you. This dish is ginormous! Generous portions of spaghetti, olives and bacon bits. To me, it is not that appealing to me because I am not a pork lover. I like the olive oil, but olives taste way too overpowering. It dulls my taste buds. I think olives arent for everyone, it's an acquired taste. I ordered this dish because it is the only tomato based pasta. I only like tomato based and squid ink pasta!
Breadman had the Mushroom Alfredo ($20), which is cream based linguine pasta and mixed wild mushroom with parmesan cheese. It looks more tasty than mine right? At least no streaky bacon! Hahah.
                                                                A table filled with food!
After our meal, the waitresses promptly presented me with a slice of brownie, which was still warm, much to my surprise! I think Breadman was more taken aback because it meant he had to finish the cake. This cake was really nice, warm, moist, not too thick and rich. I really like the thoughtfulness of the crew. Touched! Thank you Bliss House for giving me this memorable birthday! I cant help but sing praises for this place. Eh, but my name isnt separate leh... hahah... I have a very special and long name.
Make a wish. You all know I only have one wish this year.

Cake cutting ceremony. The one and only cake I cut on this special day of mine.
After the meal, it's time for pictures! Snap away! Since we are in a theme restaurant, the only reasonable thing to do is to capture these beautiful moments. Dun expect me to use the term "camwhoring" because I think that is a derogatory term for females. I love taking photos, but that does not mean I am a whore. Females deserve respect and whoever came up with that term must be a sexist!

The white interior. This place is pretty popular for wedding solemnizations. I think I want to have mine in there next time!
This is actually my favourite photo of the day! Did minimal editing for this one so that the focus is on me.

Bridal Mannequin. I think the wedding gowns are available for rental.

                                                                  White grand piano.
Breadman played a melodious Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn. Look how adept he is at playing the piano.
I tried my hand at Scott Joplin's The Entertainer.
HAHAHA. Fooled you! Both of us are not musically inclined. I think I can only play bits of Mary had a little lamb. Five stars for posing realistically and five stars for spinning white lies!
I love the gramophone! It reminds me of morning glory flowers.
Exquisite velvet sofa set. It is encrusted with shiny crystals/gems.
This arm chair is fit for a queen!  Can I lug it back home?
Relaxing happily in this humongous armchair.

Masquerade masks for the mysterious. I have always wanted to attend a masquerade ball.

Reveals a beautiful face behind the mask. Hahaha...
These victorian style phones were on sale for 69.90 SGD each.

                                                            Standing grandfather clock.
                                                                    Private dining area.
Initially I wanted to dine in this carriage, but the manager told me it isnt very comfy. Indeed! Haf to climb into the carriage. I am Cinderella in the pumpkin carriage! A pity that the photos were a little overexposed. Otherwise this is such a pretty sight.
Spot this mini fountain behind me while I stood on the bridge. I am hugging my flowers too tightly. No stealing okay! Must treasure this bouquet cuz it's breadman's first bouquet to me, or probably to anyone else.

Us sitting in the carriage. Black faces. Next time better go there at night!
I will definitely go back to Bliss House again, this time to try out other main courses and their desserts. Thumbs up for the good service and helpful waitresses who took photos for us. It wasnt anything like the negative reviews I have heard online. Anyway we visited this place during its soft launch period so probably they arent that ready to deal with an influx of customers yet, hence the negative experiences of other diners. It should be officially open by April, I think, check out its facebook page! Oh yes, its weekday lunch 1-for-1 promotion is available till 31st March, for all main dishes and pasta (except cod fish and seafood paella, I so wanted to eat the cod fish actually! Pouts mouth. But the cheapo me is always going for existing promotions, so well, next time then!)

Total damage done: $63.60 for 2 pax

Overall ratings: 4/5 stars
