1. It's all for a good cause. I was sick for the longest time and I suffered like crazy as a result of that. Going for medical tests after tests... The fear and trepidation associated with all these... I never ever want to go through that again. I am much more better now, though I still have bouts of unexplained giddiness and lightheadedness. Thus, I can put myself in the shoes of those who are sick and I hope to do something for others that's within my ability.
2. I want my hair to grow back again! They always say that once you shave your head you will get hair like babies right? Haha. I have always wanted my hair to regrow and I am quite tired of having clammy hair that sticks to my forehead on hot days.
3. I want to see how I will look like without hair in the event that someday I'll really go without it.
4. If guys can do this, why cant I?
5. It's all part of a social experiment. I want to assess how others react to my appearance, whether strangers or not.
All in all, these are the few factors that drive me towards my decision, but reason one still makes up the bulk of it. I did swear that I'll do something good once I get better. I did.
Anyway, this is the first day I went to work without hair and I was surprised by majority's reaction to me. Most of them reacted positively to me and said they like my new look. My colleague even said I looked "hip." Haha. Perhaps due to my studded cap and bright coloured pants. Anyway, some of my residents couldnt recognize me. But! My favourite resident did! Hehe. There's a reason why he still is my favourite resident. Once I stepped into the workplace, he greeted me brightly and said in teochew " wa, really go cut your hair ah?" Haha.. Totally made my day. Anyway, here are some photos of my current self now. My pointy head doesnt make me look that good without hair. Round heads are best!
Breadman looked especially dashing in this "Before" photo. I always like men dressed in white or black.
Tadaa! Me and my pointy head. Ok la, I admit that I had cold feet last minute when I reached the venue. Haha. I didnt expect the shaving to take place in the public when there's an event going on. I expected it to take place in a small place like the hall or the auditorium with only the shavees there. This wasnt the case! It was like you are being exhibited. Lots of cameras taking pics of you. There were even seats for guests to look at you. I was mortified! Alas, I did it, but I was kind of worried and wasnt at ease during the process because I was the only female shavee during that time when I shaved. Later on I spotted more female shavees. Probably I would feel more encouraged if those around me were females. Haha.. After shaving, my head did feel windier and lighter. Cooler! No need to use so much shampoo now and I can sleep immediately after bathing. Heehee. The perks of having a shaved head.
Everyone should do this someday. It is really a wholesome experience. After all you only live once! YOLO!
Another good piece of news to share: I got my confirmation after 3 months and 6 days of working. Woohoo. Let's hope there is salary increment. Haha.
