I am a quarter century old

I know this blog post came a tad late as it has been 4 months since my birthday passed! Better late than never, still. Hee. This one's about my 25th birthday celebration with Breadman at Vivocity's poulet this year on 25th March. Hey I just realised that I celebrated my 25th birthday on the 25th! Okay, a bit slow to realise this now. Haha. It wasnt exactly a fabulous birthday celebration as we sort of had a tiff before that, as usual. He didnt exactly asked me out on that day, thus I made other plans. If it were me, I would have booked him at least weeks back. That's probably why I wasnt really happy. If in the past you can do that, you even asked me a month back, why is it that you cant do it right now? It doesnt make sense at all. Isnt it true to say that your priorities have changed? Anyway, the date was a normal dinner date which didnt feel very much like my birthday. I even had to ask for my own birthday candle. How sad can that be? As compared to my 24th birthday, it seems like my 25th was a little sad. Looking at the pics made me miss my hair a little. Haha, just a little! I have my fair share of admirers currently due to my newlook, so it isnt too bad la.

Some background information about this French dining bistro in case you have no clue about this place at all:

Poulét, first sets its first debut at Bugis+ in July 2012. The restaurant is a modern French-themed bistro offering affordable French classics to the mass public. It is simply furnished with wooden tables and modertn classic chairs. After all, less is more. In addition, Poulet works by an open kitchen concept which allows diners to have a full view of the chefs in action. Driven by the passion and inspiration from market ingredients and classic French cooking techniques, Poulet serves up an array of French cuisines priced at a comfortable range. Menu offerings include everything requisite to compose a complete French meal; Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Mains, Sides and Desserts.

As this is one of its more popular food item, we decided to order the French Onion Soup. Initially, I was pretty hesitant, since I cant imagine making soup out of onions.. Can you imagine having a garlic soup? To me, both garlics and onions only serve as condiments. However, I was wrong! This was a delectable dish, not too thick, the taste of the onions was just nice. It tasted slightly sweet and the savoury crusty cheese croutons complimented the soup well. I enjoyed this soup so much that I was sceptical that this was made of onions. Hee.

I have been trying to develop a liking for salads, after all we need 2 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, so I ordered  Salad De Paris, which is  made up of garden salad with cranberry, tomato, olive and roasted pine nuts, served with french dressing and a generous dollop of avocado. This was just average as I didnt the strong taste of olives. Luckily those nuts and avocado saved this dish.

Poulet is well known for its amazing french chicken, thus it is a must order. If you havent tried its chicken, you cant say you have been to Poulet.
We shared a Half Chicken With Cranberry Sauce and I loved this dish! The chicken was succulent yet juicy and the skin of the chicken was nicely roasted. Not too greasy. I loved the cranberry sauce as well and it complimented well with the chicken. However, Breadman felt that this was just normal chicken, nothing to be fancy about. Hmm.. However I felt that not all restaurants can serve chicken that's juicy but tasty. So I guess this place deserves a mention.

On top of all these, we also ordered a Truffle Mashed Potato, which is another of its recommended food items.
This dish was Breadman's fav! However, I didnt like this dish any one bit. Call me noob, but I havent tried truffle mushrooms before, neither have I tried truffle fries. Thus, I had no inkling how truffle taste like. I took a big mouthful of this and I was immediately disappointed. It was just like eating extremely creamy and milky mashed potato. So this is how truffle is supposed to taste like. Dun like. Breadman happily chomped down this dish.

If you think that was all we had, then you are absolutely wrong! We were big eaters that day. Haha.
I cant remember the exact name of this dish, but I vaguely remember it to be croissant stuffed with mash chicken. I didnt like this dish because the croissant was not fragrant plus the chicken had a chicky smell. Thus, I conclude that Poulet still does its roasted chicken best.
                                                                   Tucking in!
I love this candid shot of myself. Haha. That expression is classic.
Again, a photo of me with my hands stretched. This seems to create a visual illusion of me having longer hands. Deception!

This was my birthday cake! After all, tiramisu is my favourite dessert of all times. I made a tiramisu cake for Breadman's birthday 2 years back, together with several home made dishes. That reminds me that he still owes me home made dishes. He once said he will cook for me on my birthday. Well, that promise hasnt materialized yet.
This is the candle I requested for my birthday. For me, birthdays are never without candles!

As usual, my wish hasnt changed since the day I fell sick. It shall always be the same wish till the day I bid goodbye to my ailments.
That's all. Happy 25th, Lezx.
