Farewell at Scholastic Singapore

Today's actually my first day of work at a new company in the social services sector. I said I will definitely join this sector the very months back when I was ill. I said I would do that when I get better. Yes, I did it. I kept my word. I always do.

Anyway, instead of telling you more about my first day here, here are some pics taken during my farewell session at Scholastic Singapore. Been working there for close to a year now, whether unofficially or officially. Met some nice helpful souls. So I am here to share with you who they are! I am glad to have the opportunity to work with a nice team of designers and publishing managers from the editorial team, appreciative to have my lunch clique from the sales team (my desk is at the sales team side though I am doing editorial work) and very much amused by the day-in-day-out office politics. Somehow, those things just make time spent in office more worthwhile and enjoyable. Special thanks to Melissa O, my supervisor who has been super duper nice! I get to write my own questions in textbooks all thanks to her even though I am not specifically trained. Well, I guess empowering the employees do indeed make a difference to their work attitude. At least, that's how I felt. I felt that she valued my contributions, she listened to my suggestions. There is nothing overbearing about her as a supervisor. She treated me like equals, not as a subordinate. I guess that's a very important trait for effective and successful bosses. I enjoyed working with Melissa L, my designer who makes changes according to my instructions even though she is more senior than me. She is extremely pleasant to work with! Melissa Dragon is yet another one, always helpful and jovial always. I helped her compiled a text and she is so grateful to me. These 3 melissas are really great people to work with! Name your kid Melissa next time. Haha. Farewell lunch was at Hei Sushi, a halal version of Sakae Sushi, under the same company. It was a stone's throw from the company, hence allowing us to have more time to chit chat.

The usual must-order dishes: salmon karagge and kakiage. Oops all fried. Unhealthy.
Sho cheng went on to order soft shell crab. Unhealthiness level increased.
Fried squid! Fainted. All fried side dishes. Hahahaha
This is the culprit. Sho Cheng. She sits in front of me and is very cute.
This is Gabriel, who has been dragged to work by his mom. He is waiting for enrollment.
Nury and Mary! My two favorite people in the office. Nury has the most infectious laughter! She laughs from her heart. She uses green contact lenses too haha. Very refreshing color. Mary is the one who introduces goat's milk to me. All thanks to her, I am drinking goat's milk and eating goat's milk tablets almost daily. It is said that goat's milk has a higher calcium and vitamin D content than cow's milk and it is less likely to cause stomach upset for those with weak stomachs. Yep,  my tummy is lousy and sometimes I get gastric issues. So I think this is a better alternative.  My bones are lousy too. Curved spine and knees that make noises when bent. I should really take it.

Melissa Dragon, the very health conscious girl who eats organic food, muesli and makes her own lunches in offices. It is rare to see her eating out. Very appreciative for the effort! She is very amiable and nice to get along with. I love her last name especially!
All six of us.
