Ushering the Year of the Snake

Few more days to the year of the snake! My year! It's easy to know when the lunar new year is coming. As always,  my house would be decorated in red and gold during this festive period. This year, I was involved in the decorations as well. DIY my own fire cracker! I love do-it-yourselves, dun you? A pity that I dun haf nimble fingers. Although the workmanship is a tad lousy, ( my mom says it's made in China... hahah), overall it's still decent looking.     

My own version of fire cracker! Even though each cracker is sewn to the next, I had to secure it with so much tape so that it wouldnt fall apart. For your info, it has fallen apart for the past two days! Haha 

A close up look. This was made using last year's red packets as my dad wanted to throw them away. The older generation thinks it's inauspicious to use red packets of previous years even though they are still new. Since it's quite a waste to throw them away, why not put them to handy use?

Pussy willow plant (no pun intended). I love the velvety texture of this plant... it reminds me of my felt/suede shoes. I always find it hard to different between felt, velvet and suede. Enlighten me somebody?
